The First Foal: A Promise of Greatness for Coolmore's Henry Longfellow
The stars aligned for Coolmore's newest stallion, Henry Longfellow, when his first foal was born at the Noralla Stud Farm in County Tipperary. This bay filly, a daughter of the mare Aurora Borealis, appeared under the enchanting northern lights that illuminated Coolmore's grounds on January 19th. It's a remarkable coincidence that her dam is named Aurora Borealis, a fitting tribute to the celestial wonder that graced the sky.
"She's a stunning filly, exuding quality and elegance, a true reflection of her sire's potential," commented Noralla's Tina Dargan. The filly's lineage is impressive, as Aurora Borealis is a daughter of Montjeu and the listed-winning 2-year-old Elaflaak. She made her mark at the 2025 Goffs Orby Sale, where her filly by the name of Sioux Nation was sold for €260,000 to Justin Casse.
Henry Longfellow, standing at €12,500, carries the same cross as the 2025 champion sire Night of Thunder and follows in the footsteps of his sire, Dubawi, by winning the prestigious National Stakes (G1). His dam, Minding, is a legend in her own right, having won seven Group 1 races under Aiden O'Brien's guidance and being crowned the European Champion 2-year-old Filly in 2015 and Champion 3-year-old the following year. Her career earnings exceeded $3 million.
