Xpeng X9 2026 Update: New Low Price, 750km Range & 5C Charging — Is Premium EV Momentum Returning? (2026)

Xpeng, a Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled its latest offering, the 2026 X9 electric MPV, with a bold pricing strategy to boost its premium sales. The new X9 starts at 309,800 yuan, a significant 14% reduction from its predecessor, showcasing Xpeng's aggressive approach to capturing the market. But here's where it gets controversial: some industry experts question whether this move will actually drive sales or simply attract price-sensitive buyers, potentially impacting Xpeng's long-term profitability. Despite this, Xpeng remains confident in its dual-power strategy, aiming for up to 600,000 deliveries in 2026. The 2026 X9 features an 800-volt high-voltage platform and a 5C ultra-fast charging battery, extending its maximum pure-electric range to an impressive 750 kilometers. This makes the X9 the world's longest-range pure-electric seven-seater supporting 5C charging, according to Xpeng. The updated X9 BEV offers five variants with starting prices ranging from 309,800 yuan to 369,800 yuan, all equipped with Xpeng's in-house developed Turing AI chip, delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power. This enhances smart driving capabilities, but the highest-priced variant features three Turing AI chips, while the lowest-priced model has only one, raising questions about the fairness of this distribution. Xpeng's chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, announced that Volkswagen has become the first commercial customer for the VLA 2.0 solution, marking a significant partnership expansion into AI software capabilities. Xpeng is aiming to maintain its growth momentum and profit margins by expanding its premium product lineup and accelerating its dual-power strategy. Despite a sluggish delivery start to the year due to seasonal factors, Xpeng has set aggressive targets for 2026, aiming to deliver 550,000 to 600,000 vehicles. This represents a significant growth of 28.1% to 39.7% compared to its 2025 delivery volume of 429,400 units. Xpeng plans to launch four new SUV models this year, including the Xpeng G01, Xpeng G02, and the Mona series D02 and D03. Mr. He also stated that the company expects its overseas sales to double in 2026, with a 2030 overseas sales target of 1 million vehicles, aiming to contribute over 70% of profits by that time. But will Xpeng's aggressive pricing and expanded product lineup be enough to maintain its growth momentum in a highly competitive market? And what do you think? Do you agree or disagree with Xpeng's strategy? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
